Accessibility & Inclusion

Accessibility is a measure of experience quality.

Accessibility in inflight entertainment and connectivity should not be treated simply as a compliance exercise or something to address at the end of product development. It is a fundamental part of delivering a good passenger experience.

At IFECtiv, we believe inclusive design benefits everyone. When accessibility is overlooked, airlines risk creating experiences that exclude passengers, introduce unnecessary frustration and undermine the very passenger experience they are investing in.

Having worked extensively on accessibility initiatives during her time at United Airlines, IFECtiv founder Corinne Streichert has continued this work through independent consulting, product evaluations and advocacy for more accessible air travel.

That experience has reinforced a simple principle: accessibility decisions are passenger experience decisions.

Where IFECtiv supports clients

We work with airlines and IFEC technology suppliers to identify accessibility considerations, evaluate existing experiences and incorporate inclusive design into product and technology decisions.

Our support includes:

  • Accessibility and usability evaluations: Assessing inflight entertainment and digital experiences to identify barriers, usability issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Independent product testing: Evaluating onboard and digital IFEC products, documenting observed deficiencies and providing practical findings to support corrective action.

  • Early-stage product and experience advisory: Helping teams consider accessibility during product planning, requirements development and technology evaluation, rather than after key decisions have been made.

  • Experience risk assessment: Identifying where design choices, technical limitations or inconsistent functionality may create difficulties for passengers with different accessibility needs.

  • Prioritization and trade-offs: Helping airlines and suppliers evaluate accessibility improvements alongside operational, technical, regulatory and commercial considerations.

Our role is to provide independent assessments and practical recommendations that support better-informed decisions.

Why this matters

Airlines invest significantly in technology intended to improve the passenger experience. But an experience cannot be considered consistently good if parts of it remain difficult or impossible for some passengers to use.

Accessibility affects usability, passenger confidence, consistency and ultimately how an airline's product is perceived.

It also requires looking beyond individual features. An accessible interface is important, but so is understanding how passengers discover content, navigate the system, interact with controls and use the product throughout their journey.

We believe accessibility should be considered from the outset, tested throughout development and revisited as products and technologies evolve.

Good accessibility is not an optional enhancement to passenger experience. It is part of what makes an experience good in the first place.
